Mary-Ann Tirone Smith is a former Ridgefield resident and acclaimed mystery writer who, in Girls of Tender Age, has written a poignant and chilling memoir of growing up in Hartford, CT in the 1950s.The book was selected by NPR’s “Fresh Air” as the top nonfiction book of 2006. The memoir also made the best books list at The Washington Post Book World. It has been selected by a dozen communities across the country for “OneTown, One Read” events.
Luncheon proceeds go to the AAUW Educational Foundation whose mission is to promote education and equity for women and girls.
